This program is on-going at every military installation with military working dogs, all branches of the service. In addition, the following is an official message from the Military Working Dog Center at Lackland, AFB, Texas:

“Thank you for your interest in our program. This program is on going at every military installation with military working dogs, all branches of the service. I am at program level of the adoption process. The training starts at Lackland and then the dogs are sent operational. Once they have completed their service they “can be retired”. At Lackland I do have some of the younger dogs, which have failed to complete training. The adoption law has a priority of adoption. 1st to Law enforcement agencies, 2nd to prior handlers, and the to the public. Please complete the application and return it to me. Contact me about the middle of each month to see if we have any dogs you might be interested in. An appointment will be scheduled for you to meet the dog and if you like them arrangements will be made for you to take them home. You will responsible for collars, leashes, crates, and shipment.  Hope to here from you soon." ~~Barbara Stadts

The Homeless Pet Placement League Cat Adoptions &
Galveston Humane Society

Petsmart  1549 W Bay Area Blvd.     Webster, TX  77598    (281) 332-1583

HPPL is fortunate to have space for showing sweet cats and kittens in the adoption center at the Bay Area Blvd. PETsMART. Pls adopt! And, a simple way to help these foster kitties out is to donate an hour or two to help clean their cages. If you are an available college student or have a flexible schedule, this would be a perfect opportunity to give a little of your time. Just email hppl@hppl.org to volunteer and find a shift to fill. Along with the cleaning, there is plenty of time for petting and playing too.

The Homeless Pet Placement League (HPPL) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that provides for the rehabiliation and adoption of stray and abandoned dogs and cats. The HPPL does not operate a shelter; animals are cared for in the homes of those who rescue them. http://www.hppl.org/

The Galveston Island Humane Society, Inc. is dedicated to promoting animal welfare and the protection and prevention of unwanted or homeless animals.

The Galveston Island Humane Society, Inc. was formed in 1981 and much has changed in the past 34 years.  We are no longer "the pound" where animals are held for the legal limit. Today we have a humane shelter that is open to the public six days a week to facilitate reuniting pets with their families and to promote adoptions.

It will also be great for pet owners who are not comfomfortable with the idea of removing their pet's testicles.
