Pls Help The Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue of San Angelo, TX recently took in 85 jacks and 77 jennets from a breeding situation gone horribly wrong.  According to the case file, 5-6 breeding pairs were purchased to start a breeding operation.  The novelty soon wore off and instead of doing the responsible thing, they released these breeding pairs onto 250+ acres.

This donkeys are not eligible for adoption until they have been gentled and meet PVDR's Adoption Criteria. We are looking for experienced individuals and other 501(c)(3) organizations that are willing to assist us in this process.  Please click on the Gentling Agreement link to learn more.

The initial cost of this rescue, including castrations, will exceed $30,000.  As none of these donkeys are friendly, they cannot be placed in PVDR’s Adoption Program.  Peaceful Valley is seeking assistance from people who would like to help in the gentling of this herd.  http://www.donkeyrescue.org/200_miniature_donkeys

Pinups for Pitbulls at
City of Bedford Pet Fest (TX)
Beford Animal Shelter
1809 Reliance Pkwy   Bedford TX 76021

Meet our beautiful Texas team at this great annual event! Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc. (PFPB) was founded in 2005 by Deirdre ‘Little Darling’ Franklin. Deirdre was tired of finding that so-called rescues and shelters were euthanizing healthy, friendly, and adoptable animals due to their alleged “breed”, and so she utilized her background in modeling and education in fine arts to create a calendar like no other–eye-catching pinup girls and their pups, paying close attention to detail and era appropriate style along the way.

Since 2005, PFPB has continued its progress and has grown exponentially into the internationally recognized organization it is today. Deirdre’s initial vision and mission has remained intact, however her passion for animals and her ability to capture an audience has enabled PFPB to reach people across the world.

Muscle-bound football players and their beloved pooches – there’s no better juxtaposition. This is exactly what Cowboys fans will see in the just-released 2016 calendar featuring a select handful of players with their trusted furry companions and benefiting the Dallas Companion Animal Project (DCAP).

The limited edition calendar, a “pet project” of sports marketer Leigh Costa, is sold online and at select retailers for $20 and aims to show people that even the toughest of guys treat their pets like family. “  http://www.dallasanimals.org/cowboys-players-and-dcap-team-up-to-create-player-pet-calendar/
  Habitat for Horses Equine Education
Habitat for Horses, Inc.    P.O. Box 213        Hitchcock, TX 77563
If your child is talking you into buying a horse, if you never had a horse and are thinking of getting one, if your knowledge of horses is very limited, this is the place for you. It's hard to imagine the amount of time, work and money you have to put in on maintaining a horse. There's a lot more to it than putting a horse in the backyard and throwing out a bucket of oats once a day. That's how horses get sick, and how "dream horses" end up dying. So learn more on how to see if a horse is for you.

Every Saturday, when the weather's okay, we hold classes on nutrition, hoof care, dental care, safety, cleaning stalls, grooming, the whole works. A full course is four Saturdays with a certificate at the end, if you graduate. For more details, please visit Basic Horsemanship Class.  Website is http://habitatforhorses.org

Month of April
April is designated as Heartworm Awareness Month

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets in the United States and many other parts of the world. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs and associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing severe lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs in the body. Heartworm disease affects dogs, cats and ferrets, but heartworms also live in other mammal species, including wolves, coyotes, foxes, sea lions and—in rare instances—humans. Use heartworm preventative!
